Local bowlers Maureen Drennan (skip), Faye Bolden (third), Dorothy Gleeson (second) Val Hassell (leader) representing West Coast won the first game in the knock out competition in Bendigo Wednesday 11April. A chilly early morning start saw the team get away to an early lead 10 to 4 against Bendigo Campaspe team from Deniliquin of Brenda Leetham, Lynette, Fay Munnerley, Jill Grimshaw, The tables turnned and the Deniliquin team came on with a rush and leveled the score 16 all at the 18th end forcing an extra end West Coast skipper Maureen Drennan drawing to the jack and trailing it away from the oppositions three shots that they held with her last shot to win by 1 shot.
Game two saw West coast play Murray Mallee team from Cohuna Golf again a good start to West Coast then Murray Mallee team of Rhonda Ballard (skip), Gwen Campbell (third), Alma Gray (second) and Lorna Dunn (lead) found their feet back on the ground after they defeated Sandbelt’s Joyce Lindores in the first round 13 to 12.
Shot for shot as the ends ran down saw Murray Mallee go into the last end 2 shots up and Maureen Drennan had to kill the end to save a 3 shot deficit and did so with the last bowl
the replay went to Murray Mallee with the skip drawing a wining shot.
